A Big Surprise

Pinewood derby mania is sweeping our area.
Fathers and sons are planning and cutting.
They are designing and painting and gluing.
They are working feverishly to get the car ready for the big race.
The cars are weighed. 5 oz exactly! Twenty cars line up ready to race. The computer is set up and brackets are set. My, pinewood derbys are hi-tech these days!
The competition is ready. It is Kason's first derby.
His first race comes, first place, wow!
Another race. Another first. What intensity.
A tight race this time. A photo finish (and yes there was a camera) the results are inconclusive.
A rerun of the heat is called for. This time a clear winner. But, notice the mouse riding the cheese taking second, wind resistance, not a factor.
The competition nears the end two cars are called to race the final race to determine the final winner.
The boy just realized the his car won the derby. Look at that smirk. But also notice the boy in his troop being happy for him. He is Brett Jensen's boy.
Way to go, Kason!
Your first derby and you won. Now all the Dad's are asking Kerry how he did it. Should we tell them that we just bought a kit and then hot glued the wheel nails on? Or should we just enjoy the brief moment of Pinewood glory and keep the great secrets to ourselves?
