Thunder and more.

Here I am with my new truck! I like it so much I even named it, Thunder. We had to turn in the suburban on lease and this is what I picked out, I love it! It drives great, looks cool, and has room for all six of us. I will add a tonneau cover so that my photo gear will be protected when I haul it.
Here is just a picture of Kieran that I liked. We made him get a hair cut which didn't make him very happy. At least he can see now at basketball games.
Here is another picture of me, one of my better ones. :)

Good Old Eagle Rock

Do you recognize this gym? Did you play ball here? I did, but it was yellow and green when I was there. Eagle Rock Jr. High, it is fun to have my kids go to the schools that I attended.
Kieran made the 8th grade team but isn't getting too much playing time.
But, here are a few decent photos from his game last week.

A Big Surprise

Pinewood derby mania is sweeping our area.
Fathers and sons are planning and cutting.
They are designing and painting and gluing.
They are working feverishly to get the car ready for the big race.
The cars are weighed. 5 oz exactly! Twenty cars line up ready to race. The computer is set up and brackets are set. My, pinewood derbys are hi-tech these days!
The competition is ready. It is Kason's first derby.
His first race comes, first place, wow!
Another race. Another first. What intensity.
A tight race this time. A photo finish (and yes there was a camera) the results are inconclusive.
A rerun of the heat is called for. This time a clear winner. But, notice the mouse riding the cheese taking second, wind resistance, not a factor.
The competition nears the end two cars are called to race the final race to determine the final winner.
The boy just realized the his car won the derby. Look at that smirk. But also notice the boy in his troop being happy for him. He is Brett Jensen's boy.
Way to go, Kason!
Your first derby and you won. Now all the Dad's are asking Kerry how he did it. Should we tell them that we just bought a kit and then hot glued the wheel nails on? Or should we just enjoy the brief moment of Pinewood glory and keep the great secrets to ourselves?

Amanda

These are fun! What is Amanda doing/thinking?
"Mom, why do you always have to take my picture."
"Can't we be done already, pleeeeeeeeeeeeease! I just can't do it."
"Yes, my debating skills are going to get me out of this portrait session and the cold!"

Amanda took second place in the novice LD division at a huge debate tournament last weekend at ISU. She will soon be moving up to varsity! But, this is why it was worth it to be outside taking those pictures.

Lauren 5th Grade Basketball

Lauren is on a 5th Grade Girls Basketball team this year. She is a tough player and scored all of her team's point at their first game.
Unfortunately they were completely defeated 2-44. It looked like they were playing a team of giants. So even though she was on the bench for this picture I had to show this.I was proud of her for doing her best in a challenging game.
Those are some tall 5th graders!

Christmas Fun!

Christmas goes by so fast!! I haven't found the time til now to post a few of our Christmas pictures. Here we are on Christmas Eve. After spending the afternoon with our friends the Schmitt's, we gathered around the tree for a few gifts. I always give the kids each a new pair of Christmas PJ's and a Christmas book. Then they give their gifts to each other and to Kerry and I. I love seeing how generous and thoughtful they are in their gift giving!
Afterward the gifts the kids entertained us with this year's Nativity Play. It was short and fun.
Christmas morning started at 8am (that's about like sleeping in). We had a great Christmas!
Here is Lauren with her new IPOD, I think she likes it.
Kason got plenty of GI Joe toys and some legos. He was so excited about Santa coming this year, we watched the Santa tracker on the internet.
Kieran was thrilled with his PS3, we will all get to benefit from it.
Amanda got an IPOD too, she wore her old one out!
I surprised Kerry with a new Taylor acoustic/electric guitar. Isn't it pretty!!
And he surprised me with a 9mm pistol and a flip video camcorder.
We spent some great time with our extended family both before and after the holiday. And even the weather was postcard perfect with frost covered trees and lightly falling snowflakes.
We all got spoiled and had a wonderful Christmas!

Snowy Day

We got a good dose of snow last weekend. What better way to enjoy it than riding on three sleds behind the 4-wheeler. Jasper loved chasing everyone.

Boise State Rocks!

On Monday the Boise State Broncos won the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl beating TCU 17-10.
It was an awesome game and now Boise is only the second college team to ever go 14-0, Ohio did it too a few years ago. GO BOISE!!
