Traxxas

A couple of years ago Kerry got a Traxxas E-Maxs remote control truck which has been a totally fun vehicle. Recently, we got a smaller car style Traxxas called the E-Revo.
Talk about a screaming maching this little car is fast! As is 50 mph fast!
Kerry and Kason have had a ball with the remotes out in the yard in all kind of weather.

Little Jemma likes it too!

post 3 of day trip: Fish etc.

So after seeing Shoshone Falls we stopped by a couple of fish hatcheries and saw several varieties of fish including these yellow trout and huge sturgeon which I couldn't get a good picture of. Then we had a little picnic and on our way to the car we found a snake.
Kason thought it was so cool!

Kerry was on video while I took the photos. The other kids wouldn't even come close to the snake.
And two more cute pictures at the end of our fun day trip.

post 2 of day trip: Shoshone Falls

After seeing Perrine Bridge we drove to the beautiful Shoshone Falls. Unfortunately the water was not flowing full force but it was still very pretty.
Amanda took pictures of all the kids including herself.

post 1 of day trip: Perrine Bridge

Over Memorial Day Weekend we took a day trip to the Twin Falls area. The first thing we saw was Perrine Bridge which was huge! I can't believe I call myself an Idahoan and never remember seeing it.
It was a busy day for base jumping off the bridge, one of the only nice days of the year so far. Look closely in the photo and see a guy free falling just below the arch of the bridge. (just click on the photo to see it larger) The base jumpers got about 15 seconds between jumping off the bridge and landing with their parachute on the ground below.
We took little Jemma with us on her first outing. She did great! It was nice to have a day out together as a family!

Critters

Kason made these clay critters the other day! He makes stuff all the time and that makes me happy. It also makes me happy that I can take pictures of his creations and not have to save every single one.
Cute boy, cute critters!

Thomas Monson

Amanda's Seminary teacher, Brother Andersen, drew this portrait of President Monson. He gave each of the students an 8x10. It is such a nice picture! His career should be in art.

Cold, Rainy, Windy Track Season Ends

On yet another cold and windy day, Kieran competed in the all area conference track meet.
He took 2nd place in the discuss with a new personal best.
We braved the cold to watch him!
He took 7th overall in the mile run in the ferocious wind.
With a nice home stretch sprint.
He placed 6th overall in the shot put.
And his relay 4x400 relay team placed 4th. Not bad, placing in all his events. Kieran really enjoys track and I look forward to seeing him compete next year on the high school team.

Scout Talent Show

The first weekend of May, Kieran and his friend Joel were invited to participate in a talent show at the all area Scout Jamboral (approx 5000 scouts in attendance). They had submitted a short video and were selected to be in the competition. They spent several after track hours practicing and Joel's mom made them each a cape and got the masks for their violin duet performance of Phantom of the Opera.
The costumes really added to their act. Unfortunately, Joel's microphone didn't work at all and the show was at the rodeo grandstand at the Blackfoot Fair Grounds. Their duet was almost impossible to hear and I was at the front! Kieran's microphone worked most of the time so at least we could hear his part.
Kuddos to them for all their hard work! They didn't win the $300 prize but they had a great experience anyway and looked good too.
The next day they did their duet at mom's house for a much smaller audience. Great job guys!
